Piece 5- My Way

)

Piece 4- I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free

)

Piece 3- Hit the Road Jack

My third piece is going to change in style from classical to jazz. I will be playing the classic Hit the Road Jack by Ray Charles. This is a smooth jazz piece that is about a woman telling her man to go away hence the title 'Hit the Road Jack'

This is the original piece of music performed by Ray Charles himself.

)

This piece is going to be a challenge to me due to its change in rhythms which means I have to look carefully at what I am playing more than some of the other pieces. Also the jazz acciacatura's also add to the difficulty in playing this song.
So here is me playing my version of Hit the Road Jack taken from Spotlights clarinet book.

Piece 2- Summer

The next piece in my repertoire is a beautiful piece taken from the suite of the Victoria Kitchen Garden. The piece is called summer and was the theme music in a TV programme to represent the coming of summer in a victorian garden.
This piece is soft and gentle  piece of music that represents summer and the life summer brings.
Here is the original version played on the TV series.

Now this is my version of this song. This is probably the strongest piece I play at the moment as it is the piece I have been working on for the longest with only a few tweaks needed to be made to it and it should be ready. Enjoy.

Piece 1- Tarantella

So the first piece I will be performing is Tarantella by Carl Baermann. This is a lively piece of music and notorious for its fast and in some places jumpy style.

This is the original version of the song Tarantella played in a concert.

As you will hear, this version is a lot faster than the version from the ABRSM Grade 5 book I will be playing however it you can still hear the lively rhythms it has throughout and the contrast in dynamics.

So here is a recent version of me playing this piece. It still needs a lot of work as some of the notes as you will hear aren't sounding due to the speed of this piece.

Welcome

Hi everyone! welcome to my BETC music blog.
For Music I have to perform a set of songs as a solo artist, keeping track of all the practise I have been doing. There will be regular diaries and videos of what I have been doing in my practises and the improvements I plan to make throughout my practise. I will be blogging my progress right up until the final performance!

So Firstly it will be all about the music I have chosen and a little bit about each of the pieces.

Until then!
